The KIA Clarus, Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Vectra just to name but a few formed the group of vehicles referred to as world cars or vehicles. This was attributed to the fact that they could and actually did sell to their markets with focus on the world car user population. The Ford Mondeo actually denotes Ford 'world'. It was developed by the Ford Motor company which used to work in close association with the KIA automobile Company. The MK1 type of Ford Mondeo bore great resemblance to the KIA Clarus, borrowing not only the design, but also the mechanical and technologies that powered the vehicle.

This led to great competition to establish a market as well as user base. The Vauxhall Vectra on the same line of thought was a product of the Opel General Motors. It was introduced into the market in 1988 and marketed as a large family car that targeted the world population. The KIA Clarus took up some features from these vehicles leading to striking resemblance as well as features and functions. Even at the present day, individuals wanting to buy the KIA Clarus, Vauxhall Vectra or the Ford Mondeo are encouraged to review the three vehicles due to the similarities in features.
